Outfitter is a modern term for boatbuilder. The skills needed are very similar but the technical knowledge is actually less. Boat building is more about actual hull construction, outfitting is about fitting units within a hull space. All our hulls (mouldings) are GRP into which we fit pre-made, sometimes part assembled unit or fronts. Outfitters are expected to work from basic drawings with given dimensions from centerline or DWL (design waterline) or from dimensions off a computer station. The quality of our work is second to none, only the best is good enough for our exacting clients.
We work in teams, headed up by a Team Leader who has overall control of the yacht in build. Each yacht is customized to the clients’ requirements and wishes. We receive instructions in the form of a master worklist generated by the Oyster project manager who along with the clients visits on a regular basis.
If you are a neat, clean and dedicated person who has pride in their work and desires a job to think about, not just do, then call 01603 782212 and ask for our yard manager Mr T Day.
